Sending Smiles Fun Fold

Hello!

Today’s card is a fun fold that pairs the Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper with the Sending Smiles bundle in the new annual catalog. This is another project we made in my recent card club. I love working with black & white Designer Series Papers and never miss an opportunity to purchase them when a new set appears in a catalog. They sure do make the contrasting colors pop!

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base: Cut a piece of Tahitian Tide cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. Cut a piece of paper from the Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper at 5 1/4″ x 12 and score at 2″, 4″, 6″ 8″. Fold and crease along score lines. Adhere to card base.
  • Cut two pieces of Polished Pink cardstock at 3″ x 4 1/2″ and run through die cutting machine with the fourth largest Stitched Rectangle die.
  • Cut two pieces of Basic White cardstock at 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″ and run through die cutting machine with the fifth largest Stitched Rectangle die.
  • Using the Sending Smiles stamp set, on the first piece of cardstock stamp the large leaf image with Parakeet Party ink. Stamp one large flower and one smaller flower with Tahitian Tide ink. Stamp the centers of the flowers with Daffodil Delight ink. On the second piece of cardstock stamp the smaller leaf image with Parakeet Party ink and stamp the flower with Tahitian Tide ink. Stamp the large flower center with Daffodil Delight ink. Stamp greeting with Tuxedo Black Memento ink at top of piece. Adhere both pieces to the Polished Pink pieces.
  • Cut one piece of Basic White cardstock at 3″ x 4 1/2″. Run piece through die cutting machine with the fourth largest Stitched Rectangle die. Stamp the leafy flower image with Polished Pink ink several times across the bottom of the piece, staggering the heights. Stamp greeting at top of card with Memento ink.
  • Adhere first stamped image piece to the front folded flap, centering it and making sure to only put adhesive on the left side of the piece. Adhere second stamped image to the middle fold, again only putting adhesive on left side of the piece. Line up the right side edges so that they are even. Adhere the third Basic White piece to the inside of the card, making sure to line it up with the two other stamped pieces so that it doesn’t stick out when the card is closed.
  • Cut a piece of Basic Black cardstock at 2″ x 4″ and run through the die cutting machine with the solid word die from the Sending Dies set. Cut a piece of Tahitian Tide cardstock at 2″ x 4″. Cut a piece of an adhesive sheet the same size and adhere to the cardstock. Run through die cutting machine with the script die. Peel off adhesive sheet backing and adhere to Basic Black die cut piece. Adhere on a diagonal to the front card panel with liquid glue.
  • Embellish card front with a few Tahitian Tide dots from the 2022-2024 Matte Decorative Dots.

Symbols of Fortune Chrysanthemum Card

Hello!

Today’s card is a fun fold card that features the gorgeous chrysanthemum flower image in the Crane of Fortune stamp set. This is part of the Symbols of Fortune Suite in the January-June 2022 Mini Catalog. This was the first Suite I purchased when the catalog went live and while I’ve made a number of cards using products from the suite, I haven’t had a chance to post any of them until now. This suite will be retiring at the end of June so if any of the products in the suite have been on your wish list, now is the time to purchase them.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 2 3/4″ and 8 1/4″. Fold and crease sharply with a bone folder.
  • Cut two pieces of the chrysanthemum paper from the Symbols of Fortune Specialty Designer Series Paper at 2 1/2″ x 4″. Cut two pieces from a different sheet of paper at 2 1/2″ x 4″. Adhere the chrysanthemum DSP strips to the front folds and the contrasting DSP strips to the inside flaps.
  • Cut a 4″ square piece of Basic White cardstock. Stamp the floral image using the direct to rubber technique. Color the flowers onto the stamp with a Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write marker. Color the leaves and stems with a Soft Succulent Stampin’ Write marker. Huff on the stamp to activate the ink and stamp onto the cardstock. This is a Distinktive stamp set, which will give you a photo realistic and beautifully shaded image. Brush image with Wink of Stella to add shimmer.
  • Cut out image with the largest scalloped die from the Hippo & Friend Die set. Note that this set of dies is now retired. You can use any other die that is similar in shape and size.
  • Stamp greeting with Evening Evergreen ink. I used one of the greetings from the Art Gallery stamp set. Embellish with three Opal Rounds.
  • Die cut a piece of Soft Succulent cardstsock with the same Hippo die and adhere to back of the stamped image.
  • Apply adhesive or liquid glue to the left side of the image and adhere to the left front flap.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Stamp greeting from Crane of Fortune stamp set with Evening Evergreen ink. Stamp dragonfly image in upper right corner with Calypso Coral ink. Stamp leaf image with Soft Succulent ink in bottom left corner. Adhere to inside of card.

Cup of Tea Book Fold Card

Hello!

Today’s card features products from the Tea Boutique Suite in the new annual catalog. I’ve been a tea drinker for years so every time Stampin’ Up! has a new tea-related set I always purchase it. I’m really enjoying working with all of the fun images in this set, along with the beautiful Designer Series Papers and the new In Colors.

This is one of the projects we made in my quarterly stamping club this past weekend. Here is how to make the card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Basic White Thick cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″. Score at 4 1/4 and 5 1/2″. Fold and sharply crease score lines with a bone folder. Adhere the 1 1/4″ fold section to the card base so that it opens up like a book.
  • Cut a piece of Tea Boutique Designer Series Paper at 4″ square. Cut another piece of DSP at 1″ x 4″. Adhere both pieces to card front.
  • Cut a piece of Sweet Sorbet cardstock at 3 1/8″ square.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 3″ square. Stamp leaf image with Parakeet Party ink. Stamp the flowers with Tahitian Tide ink. Adhere to Sweet Sorbet square and adhere to front of card.
  • Cut another piece of Basic White cardstock at 2″ x 4″. Stamp teacup with leaf design with Sweet Sorbet ink. Stamp “It’s time for tea” greeting for the large tea bag with Starry Sky ink. Stamp lemon image with Daffodil Delight ink. Run through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the coordinating dies.
  • Adhere the tea cup with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Adhere the tea bag and lemon with glue dots.
  • Cut a length of Sweet Sorbet bakers twine and tie in a bow around the front of the card.
  • Stamp greeting with Sweet Sorbet ink on inside of card. Stamp lemon image with Daffodil Delight ink in bottom left corner of card.

Sending Birthday Wishes

Hello!

Today’s card features the Sending Smiles Bundle from the new 2022-2023 Annual Catalog. This is a very versatile stamp set because it includes so many of what I would consider to be basic and most commonly used types of greetings. The floral images are easy to stamp and are sure to bring cheer! I couldn’t wait to start playing with the new In Colors and love the combination of Parakeet Party and Orchid Oasis.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Orchid Oasis cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of the Parakeet Party plaid print from the 2022-2024 In Color Designer Series Paper at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to card front.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ and run through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the next-to-largest rectangle die from the Scalloped Contours Dies.
  • Stamp the larger leaf image in the Sending Smiles stamp set on the scalloped rectangled piece with Parakeet Party ink. Stamp the two flower images with Orchid Oasis ink. Stamp the centers of the flowers with Daffodil delight ink.
  • Cut a piece of Starry Sky cardstock at 2″ x 4″ and run through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the solid “Sending” die from the Sending Dies set. Cut a piece of Orchid Oasis cardstock at 2″ x 4″. Cut a piece of an adhesive sheet the same size and adhere it to one side of the cardstock. Run through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the open script “sending” die. Peel adhesive backing off the piece and carefully adhere it to the Starry Sky piece.
  • Adhere scalloped rectangle piece to card front. Adhere the “sending” piece to the bottom of this piece with liquid glue. Adhere three Orchid Oasis 2022-2024 In Color Matte Decorative Dots to the card front.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Stamp the birthday greeting with Starry Sky ink. Stamp the smaller leaf in the lower left corner with Parakeet Party ink. Stamp the flower with Orchid Oasis ink and stamp the inside of the flower with Daffodil Delight ink.

This is a quick and easy card to make. Give it a try with different color combinations!

Pansy Patch Card

Hello!

I’m finally back to posting after an absence of over two months! In the next two weeks I will be featuring a backlog of cards I’ve made during that time, mixed in with projects featuring products from the new annual catalog. Today’s card features the Pansy Patch bundle, which has carried over into the new catalog. Pansies are one of my favorite flowers so when the Pansy Petals Suite was introduced in the current catalog, I was very excited! As excited as I was, the stamp set and dies can be a little intimidating to figure out how to use them, so I didn’t do much with them until recently, when Kylie Bertucci offered a creative retreat that featured this suite. After the retreat, attendees received a tutorial with 21 exclusive projects. I CASE’d today’s card from one of Bruno Bertucci’s projects. I kept the design but totally changed up the Designer Series Paper and ink colors for a springtime feel.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Polished Pink cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper at 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and adhere to card front. (This DSP is not carrying over into the new catalog and is now sold out.)
  • Die cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ and run through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine with the next-to-largest rectangle from the Scalloped Contours Dies. Adhere to card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • This is a two-step stamp set. Stamp two of the large pansies. Stamp the base with Blushing Bride ink, stamping off once before stamping onto a piece of Basic White cardstock. Stamp the detailed stamp over the base with Polished Pink ink. Stamp the center of the flower with Blushing Bride ink, stamping off once. Stamp the beard with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Cut out with the large pansy from the Pansy Dies.
  • Stamp three of the smaller pansies. Stamp the base with Pale Papaya ink. Stamp the detailed stamp over the base with Calypso Coral ink. Stamp the beard with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Cut out with the smaller pansy from the Pansy Dies.
  • Stamp the pansy bud base with Pale Papaya ink and stamp the detailed stamp with Calypso Coral ink. Cut out with the bud from the Pansy Dies.
  • Stamp one bud stem and two long stems with Evening Evergreen ink and cut out with Pansy Dies.
  • Stamp three leaves from the base stamp with Soft Sea Foam ink and stamp the detail stamp with Soft Succulent ink. Stamp two leaves with Soft Succulent ink for the base and Evening Evergreen ink with the detail stamp. Use both leaf shapes. Cut out with the two different leaf dies.
  • Stamp greeting with Memento ink on a 5/8″ x 3/4″ piece of Polished Pink cardstock and flag one end. I needed a small greeting to fit into the space where I wanted the greeting go, so I chose one of the greetings from the Hydrangea Haven stamp set.
  • To assemble the flowers and leaves, first adhere the leaves to the flowers with Mini Glue Dots. Adhere the bud to the bud stem with a drop of liquid glue. Adhere the stems to the Basic White scalloped rectangle with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. Adhere the flowers to the stems with Stampin’ Dimensionals, as shown.
  • Finish off the card by adding some bling. I used the 2021-2023 In Color Jewels for the centers of the flowers. (These jewels are on the last chance list.)

Hello!

I’ve been on hiatus from blogging for the last two months, as I’ve had to devote most of my attention to handling my father’s affairs after he passed away in February, and an intense client project I’ve been working on in my consulting business. I’ve still held my in-person cardmaking classes and hope to be back posting some of those projects beginning next week when my client project finally comes to an end!

Stampin’ Up! is doing a one-day free shipping promotion tomorrow, April 21st, on all orders that are $75 or more (before tax). Take advantage of this opportunity to stock up on some basics such as cardstock, ink or adhesives, purchase a stamp set or bundle you’ve had on your wish list or purchase last chance items on the retiring product list.
