Happy Hedgehogs

Hello! Today’s card is a sneak peek of the Happy Hedgehogs stamp set and Hedgehog Builder Punch from the new January-June 2022 Mini Catalog. You will be able to purchase these items beginning on January 4th. This is not the type of stamp set I normally purchase but I couldn’t resist working with these darling images – they are too cute!

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Pool Party cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Place the largest circle die from the Layering Circles dies in the center of the card front and run through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine.
  • Randomly stamp the butterfly with Pool Party ink all around the card front.
  • Cut a 3 1/2″ square of Basic White cardstock and stamp the tree image with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Color with these Stampin’ Blends: Light Soft Suede, Light and Dark Old Olive, Light and Dark Flirty Flamingo, Dark Petal Pink. When I stamped the image, I left off the bottom part of the tree trunk and stamped the grass with the little grass stamp and Old Olive ink. Adhere to the back of card front, making sure to center the image in the circle opening.
  • Since I used Stampin’ Blends to color the image, the colors bled through to the back of the cardstock, so I cut a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Pattern Party Designer Series Paper and adhered it over the back of the image in order to cover it up.
  • Stamp a large and small hedgehog on scrap pieces of Basic White cardstock. These are the Stampin’ Blends I used to color in the images. Light Petal Pink for the bodies, Dark Flirty Flamingo for the ears. Light Soft Suede for the top part of the larger Hedgehog, Dark Crumb Cake for the smaller hedgehog. I also colored around the bottom of each body, following the little lines.
  • Punch out the larger hedgehog with the builder punch and adhere to bottom left of card front as shown. I used liquid glue on the part that is adhered outside the circle and placed two Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals underneath the part that is inside the circle. Fussy cut the smaller hedgehog and adhere in the same manner at the upper right of card front.
  • Stamp the greeting on a scrap piece of Petal Pink cardstock with the Memento ink. Run through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine with the smallest rectangle scallop die from the Stitched So Sweetly dies. Adhere with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to card as shown.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Stamp the mushroom image with the Memento ink in bottom left. Color the image with Dark Petal Pink, Dark Flirty Flamingo, Light Crumb Cake and Light and Dark Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. Adhere to inside of card.

I had such fun making this card and it brought a smile to my face as I was working on it!

Thanks for stopping by today! Wishing you a very Happy and Healthy New Year!

Whimsey & Wonder

Hello! These are the last two Christmas cards I will be featuring this year. I have many more, but ran out of time to get them posted! These two cards feature the Whimsey & Wonder Suite and these are the ones I sent out to my customers. As soon as I laid eyes on this suite in the July-December 2021 Mini Catalog, it called out my name! I just loved the non-traditional, but beautiful colors in the Designer Series Paper. This suite was very popular, but will not be returning next year. The only product still available on the retired list is the Whimsical Trees stamp set, so if you have been thinking about purchasing it, now is the time!

Here is how I made the Christmas ornament card. This layout was featured in a recent YouTube video by Lisa Curcio.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to card front.
  • Cut a piece of the Christmas ornament paper from the Whimsey & Wonder Specialty Designer Series Paper at 3 3/4″ x 5″ and adhere to Basic White cardstock.
  • Cut two strips at 1″ x 3 1/2″ and one strip at 1″ x 4 1/2″ from two different contrasting pieces of DSP. Adhere as shown.
  • Cut a piece of Polished Pink cardstock at 2 3/4″ square and a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock at 2 5/” square and adhere pieces together.
  • Cut a 2 1/2″ square of Basic White and stamp the ornament image from the Whimsical Trees stamp set with Tuxedo Black Memento ink two times, with one of the images a bit higher up to the top of the piece. Color with Stampin’ Blends. I used dark and light Smokey Slate, Dark Mint Macaron, Light Polished Pink and Light Misty Moonlight. Adhere to the Mint Macaron square.
  • Cut a scrap piece of Basic White at 1/2″ x 3″. Stamp greeting with Mint Macaron ink. Adhere with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Here is how I made the card with the tree.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of the paper with the holly leaves from the Whimsey & Wonder DSP at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to card front.
  • Cut a piece of the Blushing Bride and silver snowflake paper at 3″ x 4″.
  • Cut a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock at 2 5/8″ x 4 1/4″. I embossed this piece with the retired Winter Snow embossing folder. You can substitute the Wintry 3D folder in the current annual catalog.
  • Adhere the DSP to the card front at an angle and adhere the embossed piece over the DSP straight up and down.
  • Adhere a Wonderful Snowflake to the left side of the embossed piece .
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 2 1/4″ x 3 1/2″. Stamp the large tree image with Mossy Meadow ink and cut out with the coordinating die from the Christmas Tree dies.
  • Cut a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock at 2″ x 3 3/4″ and cut out with the die from the Christmas Trees dies. Adhere to stamped tree. Adhere tree to right side of embossed piece, partially overlapping the snowflake.
  • Stamp greeting with Mossy Meadow ink on scrap piece of Basic White cardstock and cut out with the label die that has the flagged ends from the Tasteful Labels die set. Adhere to card front.

Wishing you a Blessed Christmas!

Holly Jolly Christmas Season

Hello! Today I have another card made with products from the Painted Christmas Suite. I also used the Merry Melody 3D embossing folder, which is my favorite holiday embossing folder from the July-December 2021 Mini Catalog.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Real Red cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of the Garden Green and white Painted Christmas Designer Series at 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and adhere to card base.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and run through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder. Adhere to card base.
  • Cut a piece of DSP at 3 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ from the print with the small berries and pine leaves and run through die cutting machine with the largest label from the Seasonal Labels Dies. Adhere to the Merry Melody embossed piece.
  • Run a scrap piece of Real Red cardstock through the die cutting machine with the berries die from the Poinsettia dies.
  • For the Garden Green leaves, emboss a piece of the cardstock with the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder and then die cut two leaves from the Seasonal Labels dies. I found this idea somewhere online but don’t remember where. It adds some nice additional texture to the card.
  • For the greeting, die cut a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock with a label from the Seasonal Labels dies. Stamp greeting from the Christmas to Remember stamp set onto the label with Real Red ink.
  • Cut a length of Real Red Sheer Ribbon.
  • To finish assembling the card front, adhere one leave to the upper left of the DSP label with a few glue dots. Adhere the other leave to the opposite side, staggering the height so that it appears shorter than the first leaf. Adhere the red berries in between the leaves with a few small dots of liquid glue.
  • Make a loop with the ribbon. Lay the ribbon down at an angle and adhere in the center of the ribbon with a small piece of Scotch Tape. Make a loop, bringing the ribbon back to the opposite side, once again adhering it in the center with another piece of tape. Bring the ribbon back to the opposite side and tape again. Trim ends of ribbon.
  • Adhere greeting over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Christmas Season – Two Different Versions

Hello! I’ve been making many holiday cards in the last few weeks but got so busy with my holiday cardmaking classes that I haven’t have time to do any blog posts recently, so I will be posting some of those cards during this week. Today I have two cards with the same easy layout. Both cards use products from the Painted Christmas Suite. One uses the Painted Christmas Designer Series Paper and the other uses the Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Series Paper.

Here is how I made this card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Cut three different strips of paper from the Painted Christmas DSP at 1 5/8″ x 3 3/4″ and adhere to the cardstock.
  • Stamp two of the smaller pine cones from the Christmas Season stamp set. This is a two step stamp, so first stamp the base with Crumb Cake ink, stamping off before stamping onto the cardstock. Stamp the accent stamp over the base with Early Espresso ink. Stamp the leaf with Pear Pizzaz ink. Run through die cutting machine using the coordinating dies from the Seasonal Labels die set.
  • Cut piece of Basic White cardstock at 1 1/2″ x 5″ and run through die cutting machine with label die from Seasonal Labels. Stamp greeting from the Christmas to Remember stamp set on label with Cherry Cobbler ink.
  • Arrange pine cones and leaves on left side of card. Adhere one pine cone and the leaves under the label. Adhere label. Adhere the other pine cone over the left edge of the label.
  • Add a Mint Macaron Genial Gem to the label for a bit of bling.

Here is how I made the second card using the Peaceful Place Specialty DSP.

  • Cutting dimensions for this card base and DSP are the same as the first card. Card base is Smoky Slate cardstock, mat for DSP is Cherry Cobbler.
  • The two pieces of DSP I used both have tree images. I used two strips of the paper with the white background on either side of the mat and for the middle piece I used the paper with the large trees with the silver metallic in the background. I cut those strips so that they showed the tops of the trees.
  • Cut strip of Basic White cardstock at 1/2″ x 4 1/4″. Die cut with the label die from the Harvest Dies set. You can also use the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch, selecting the squared end. Stamp greeting from the Christmas to Remember stamp set with Cherry Cobbler ink.
  • Die cut two sets of the holly leaves from the Seasonal Labels Dies using one of the sheets from the Silver Foil Specialty Pack. Arrange leaves on card base. Adhere greeting with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. Add clear rhinestones on each end of the label.

This layout is super easy and versatile, and is a great way to use your Designer Series Papers!

Happy Hanukkah

Hello and Happy Hanukkah! I kicked off the holiday by attending a menorah lighting ceremony in Lancaster City last evening and then lit the first candle when I got home. Last week I had a Hanukkah cardmaking class and these are the four cards we made. Stampin’ Up! hasn’t had a new Hanukkah stamp set in many years so I pulled out my favorite retired set, Jewish Celebrations, and also used stamps and dies that I’ve purchased over the years from a few other companies. All of the cardstock, inks, Designer Series Paper and embellishments are Stampin’ Up! products. It is always a challenge to come up with creative ways to make cards for Jewish holidays so I always keep retired products that I think will work well for future holiday projects – so glad for my stash!

I got this fun card layout from LeeAnn Greff’s blog, Flowerbugs Inkspot. The menorah image is from the Jewish Celebrations stamp set. I stamped it on Very Vanilla cardstock and cut it out with one of the Tasteful Label dies. The Happy Hanukkah greeting is from a current SU stamp set, Snowflake Wishes. The embossing folder I used for the side panel is Stylish Scroll. The DSP and blue frayed ribbon are from the Boho Indigo Product Medley, which was in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. The inside greeting is from Altenew’s Love and Light Stamp set. The cardstock and ink are Misty Moonlight.

This is a fun fold card. I purchased Rubber Cafe’s Celebrating the Festival of Lights stamp set several years ago at a scrapbooking show and it is no longer available. I used Night of Navy cardstock and ink. The DSP is from You’re A Peach, which is currently available in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. I colored in the dreidels with Smoky Slate, Balmy Blue, Misty Moonlight and Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends. The inside greeting is from Altenew’s Love and Light stamp set. The bling is from Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

This card features the beautiful menorah from Altenew’s Love and Light stamp set, which is still available. I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Shimmery White cardstock and colored it with Smoky Slate, Night of Navy, Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green and Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends and used the coordinating die to cut it out. I die cut a piece of silver foil with a Stitched Rectangles die and popped the menorah up on it with regular and mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. The card base is Smoky Slate. The DSP is Springtime Foils Specialty DSP, which was a Sale-A-Bration offering a few years ago. The silver ribbon came in a combo pack with gold ribbon and is retired.

This is another fun fold card that uses the Celebrating the Festival of Lights stamp set. I heat embossed the dreidel and greeting with gold embossing powder on a piece of Basic White cardstock that I cut with one of the scalloped dies from the Stitched so Sweetly dies. I cut a piece of NIght of Navy cardstock with a larger scalloped die and adhered them together. Card base is Night of Navy and the gold striped paper is from the Expressions in Ink Specialty Designer Series Paper from the current 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. I added a few Champagne Rhinestone Jewels for a bit of bling.

Merry Melody Christmas Card

Hello! Today’s card features the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder and the Poinsettia Petals stamp set. I went through the July-December 2021 Mini Catalog many times before I actually noticed the Merry Melody folder on page 42. It is easy to miss because the photographs don’t show off this beautiful folder very effectively! The Poinsettia Petals stamp set and dies were one of my most favorite bundles from last year’s holiday Mini Catalog so I was glad that they carried over into this year’s Annual Catalog!

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – Cut a piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Run through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder. Adhere to card base.
  • To make the labels for the greeting, cut a scrap piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock at 1″ x 4″. Punch both ends with the squared edge on the Lovely Labels Pick A Punch. Cut a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock at 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ and punch both ends. Stamp greeting from the Poinsietta Petals stamp set with Shaded Spruce ink and adhere to Shaded Spruce label. Adhere to card front.
  • Stamp the small and medium poinsietta images with Real Red ink on scrap pieces of Basic White cardstock and run through the die cutting machine with the coordinating poinsettia dies. Adhere a glue dot to the center of the larger image and adhere the two pieces together.
  • Stamp three pine boughs with Shaded Spruce ink on scrap pieces of Basic White cardstock and run through the die cutting machine with the coordinating die.
  • Run two scrap pieces of Real Red cardstock through the die cutting machine with the berry die.
  • Arrange the pine boughs at bottom right corner of card front. Adhere the berry pieces to back of poinsietta piece with glue dots. Adhere this piece to card front, overlapping the pine boughs.
  • Add a pearl to the center of the poinsettia.
  • For the inside of the card, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Stamp the magic and wonder greeting with Real Red ink. Stamp a pine bough with Shaded Spruce ink in bottom left corner. Adhere to inside of card base.
