New Product Preview-Cheerful Daisies

Hello!

I finally had some time to sit down yesterday to make my first card with brand new products from the 2023-2024 Annual Catalog that goes “live” tomorrow! I used the Cheerful Daisies bundle and the coordinating Fresh as a Daisy Designer Series Paper, along with three new colors: Moody Mauve, Bubble Bath and Wild Wheat. I’ve been wishing for a light pink and Bubble Bath is a new color that has been added to the Subtles Collection. I’m loving it! The layout for this card is one that has been my “go to” for many years because it works really well to show off both Designer Series Papers, stamps and dies.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Moody Mauve cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut two pieces of Bubble Bath cardstock, one at 4 1/8″ square and one at 3 1/4″ x 4″. Cut a piece of Fresh as a Daisy DSP at 4″ and adhere to the square piece of Bubble Bath cardstock.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 3 1/8″ x 3 7/8″. Stamp birthday greeting in lower right corner with Moody Mauve ink.
  • Cut another piece of Basic White cardstock to stamp the flowers and leaves. Cheerful Daisies is a two-step stamp set. Stamp the largest daisy image outline stamp with Moody Mauve ink. Stamp the fill-in with Bubble Bath ink. Stamp the smaller daisy outline stamp twice with Bubble Bath ink. Stamp flower centers with Wild Wheat ink. Stamp five single leaves with Wild Wheat ink. Run all images through Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with coordinating Cheerful Daisies dies.
  • Adhere the large daisy to the smaller Basic White cardstock piece with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Adhere the two smaller daisies with either mini glue dots or liquid glue, tucking them under the larger daisy. Arrange leaves around the three flowers and adhere with mini glue dots. Adhere piece to the smaller piece of Bubble Bath cardstock.
  • Cut a length of Moody Mauve 3/8″ Textured Ribbon and tie in a knot around the piece with the DSP. Trim the tails. Adhere piece to card base. Adhere the piece with the stamped images to the DSP piece.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Stamp the small triple daisy image in the lower left corner with Moody Mauve ink and color in the centers of the flowers with the Wild Wheat Stampin’ Write Marker. Adhere to inside of card.

I am unable to link to the new products until tomorrow. Here are the products, item numbers and prices.

Stampin’ Up! Color Refresh

Hello!

I’m still catching up with my Stampin’ Up! business after a crazy busy two months, so by now, the news about Stampin’ Up’s color refresh has been out there for the last few weeks. Every five or so years, SU looks at the existing color families and does a refresh, adding brand new colors, bringing some retired colors back and retiring others. I was very excited to see the new colors, including a number of retired In Colors from the last few years that have been brought back and incorporated into the four color families! We also have five new In Colors for 2023-2025. While I am always sad to see some favorite colors go, I’m delighted to have fun new colors to play with! Watch this video for a quick overview of the color refresh.

2023-2025 In Colors

The new 2023-2025 In Colors are here!  Copper Clay, Wild Wheat, Boho Blue, Moody Mauve, Pebbled Path. The colors are quite different than what some of you are probably used to seeing – not brights, not pastels.  They are more neutral and subdued, however, as soon as I saw them I loved them!  They are going to work really well with nature and animal images and for masculine cards, and also act as great supporting colors to make others pop.

Updated Color Families

These are the newly-updated color families. There are four brand new colors: Azure Afternoon, Bubble Bath, Lemon Lolly and Pecan Pie.  I especially love Lemon Lolly and Bubble Bath – so pretty! The returning colors are all past In Colors that have been retired over the years and I’m so happy to see some of my favorites back again! The colors are: Lost Lagoon, Pretty Peacock, Blueberry Bushel, Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst, Misty Moonlight.  The good news – one of the retiring colors, Fresh Freesia, is returning and is now in the Subtles Collection – yay! We now have a nice group of browns and and a greatly expanded selection of blues, both of which I felt had been lacking.

Now, for the retiring colors – fifteen in all.  I tried guessing which colors would go and did a pretty good job!  I guessed So Saffron, Pacific Point, Blushing Bride, Sahara Sand, Merry Merlot and yes, they are gone.  Other retiring colors are Mango Melody, Soft Suede, Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzleberry. Pear Pizzazz, and Mint Macaron. Big surprises for many demonstrators were Bermuda Bay and Rich Razzleberry! The 2021-2023 In Colors are also retiring (except for Fresh Freesia), so Pale Papaya, Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent, Polished Pink.

Stampin’ Up! has a new Color Coach, which gives color combination suggestions for each of the colors in the four color families and the In Colors. If you struggle with putting colors together, this is a great tool! Click here to download the Color Coach and have fun exploring!

There is just one week remaining to purchase retiring products from the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog and the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog. If you still have items from these catalogs on your wish list, time is running out! Many items have sold out and are now discontinued, including stamp pads, reinkers, markers and cardstock for the retiring colors. The new 2023-2024 Annual Catalog year begins on May 2nd.

Last Chance Products

Hello!

I’ve been AWOL for the last few weeks and am finally able to catch up with Stampin’ Up! news! The last two months have been crazy time for me. I’ve been busy with in in-person card making classes, taking care of getting several income tax returns ready for my accountants, working on a huge client project that picks up steam in March and April, and finally, taking a short vacation from the end of March into early April. I spent several days in one of my favorite cities – New Orleans, visiting with my dearest friends from my college days of 50 years ago! They have a lovely second home in the Garden District. This is the fourth time I’ve been to NOLA in the last 30 years. We visited the World War ll Museum, Oak Alley Plantation, did a swamp tour through the Jean Lafitte National Park, where we saw many alligators – oh my! Also visited City Park’s beautiful outdoor sculpture garden, strolled down Magazine Street and had meals at some fabulous restaurants. And of course, no visit to NOLA would be complete without a stop at Cafe Du Monde for the beignets!

Since I’m late in posting this, by now you probably know that the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog and the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog are retiring on May 1st and the new 2023-2024 Annual Catalog will go live on May 2nd. Click on the catalog covers below to view the retiring lists for both catalogs. There discounts on many of the products. Since this is a year for a color rrefresh, most of the inks, reinkers, cardstock, etc. for those retiring colors have already sold out and are now discontinued. My next blog post will have all the information you need about the new, returning and retiring colors. The Stamparatus is now discontinued. Several of my favorite, most heavily used die sets are retiring and as of now, are still available while supplies last – Layering Circles, Stitched Rectangles, Diorama Dies. One other thing to note as you look at the lists. A number of bundles will be retiring and will not be carrying over to the new catalog. However, a number of stamp sets and dies that were in bundles will carry over and will be sold separately, without the 10% discount. So if you have any bundles on your wish list that are retiring you might want to consider purchasing them now.

Here is the cover of the new 2023-2024 Annual Catalog. Stampin’ Up! demonstrators are not allowed to show the inside of the catalog until it goes live, so this is all you can see for now! The cover shows some new colors – so pretty!! If you are one of my customers and have placed orders with me in the last year you will receive a catalog in the mail from me in the next week or two. If you do not have a demonstrator and would like a catalog please feel free to contact me. I’d be happy to be your demonstrator!

By the Bay Fun Fold Card

Hello!

Today’s card is another one I made with the By the Bay Suite. It features the W Fun Fold, which looks difficult, but is really easy to make.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″, fold and crease with a bone folder
  • Stamp the sea shell and sand image from the Seaside Bay stamp set with Balmy Blue ink around all four sides of the card front so that it looks like a frame.
  • Cut a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock at 3 1/8″ x 4 7/8″. Cut a piece of By the Bay Specialty Designer Series Paper at 3″ x 4 3/4″. I chose one of the papers with a scene. Adhere to Crumb Cake piece and adhere to card front.
  • Stamp large bird image with Soft Suede ink on a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock. Stamp the sea shell and sand image with Sahara Sand ink on the scrap piece. Run through die cutting machine with the coordinating dies from the Seaside Bay Dies.
  • Cut a small piece of Pearlescent Specialty Paper and run through die cutting machine with the double small shell die and one large shell die. Cut a small piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock and run through die cutting machine with one large and one small grass dies.
  • Arrange die cut pieces on the DSP and adhere.
  • Run the large shell through die cutting machine with a piece of Basic White cardstock. Cut shell in half. Stamp greeting from Paradise Palms stamp set with Balmy Blue ink on the shell and adhere to DSP. Embellish card front with several Flat Adhesive-Backed Pearls.

Here is how to make the inside of the card.

  • Stamp the sea shell and sand image with Balmy Blue ink all around the sides of the Balmy Blue cardstock
  • Cut two pieces of DSP at 3″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere.
  • Cut four pieces of Balmy Blue cardstock at 2 1/4″ each and four pieces of Basic White cardstock at 2″ each. Stamp the large crab image with Balmy Blue ink on the first piece. Stamp the small bird images three times with Night of Navy ink on the second piece. Stamp the oyster shell with Crumb Cake ink on the third piece. Stamp the sand image with Sahara Sand ink around the images on all three pieces. Leave the fourth piece blank to write your note or stamp the greeting of your choice. Adhere white squares to Balmy Blue squares.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 1″ x 11″ and score at 2 3/4″, 5 1/2″ and 8 1/4″. Crease all folds very sharply with a bone folder.
  • Run a thin line of liquid glue at the top of the 11″ strip. Open card and center the strip in the middle. Line up the top of the strip with the top of the card and adhere. Run a thin line of liquid glue at the bottom of the strip. Line up the strip with the bottom of the card and adhere.
  • Adhere the four squares to the strip, running a thin line of liquid glue in the middle of each square. Don’t apply glue to the entire square otherwise the fold won’t work properly.

Last July I posted a W Fun Fold with the Hues of Happiness Suite. Here is the card. To view the blog post, click here.

Seaside Bay Diorama Card

Hello!

Today’s card is a Seaside Bay Diorama Card, which uses products from the beautiful By the Bay Suite. As soon as I saw this in the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog I knew it would be the first thing I purchased in my pre-order! The Designer Series Paper is absolutely stunning! When I saw the DSP with the fish design I thought it would work great with the Layering Diorama Dies.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – Cut a piece of Coastal Cabana at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of the fish paper from the By the Bay Designer Series Paper at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Adhere to card base.
  • Cut a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and run through die cutting machine with the fourth largest die from the Layering Diorama Dies.
  • Cut a coordinating piece of paper from the By the Bay Designer Series Paper at 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and run through die cutting machine with the third largest die from the Layering Diorama Dies.
  • Place the Coastal Cabana die cut piece over the fish DSP and then place the die cut DSP over it. Turn the pieces in different directions until you get a design you like. I wanted to show off as much of the fish as possible and liked how it looked with the Coastal Cabana piece turned the way I decided on. Adhere Coastal Cabana piece to the fish DSP. Adhere the die cut DSP piece to front of card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used a lot of them in order to create a 3D look.
  • Cut a piece of a Gold Foil Sheet at 2 1/2″ x 3″ and run through die cutting machine with the shell die from the Seaside Bay Dies. Fold along score lines and adhere to card.
  • Cut a piece of Petal Pink cardstock at 2″ square. Stamp greeting from the Paradise Palms stamp set with Soft Suede ink and run through die cutting machine with the shell die from the Chic Dies. Adhere to card, tucking the bottom into the bottom of the Coastal Cabana die cut piece.
  • Cut a piece of Pool Party Sheer Ribbon at 5″, fold in half and adhere in between the gold and Petal Pink shells. Trim ends.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Stamp the large clam image with Coastal Cabana ink in right bottom corner. Adhere to inside of card. Adhere a large Flat Adhesive Pearl to the clam.

Favored Flowers Cards

Hello!

Today’s cards feature the Favored Flowers 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper that you can earn as a free Sale-A-Bration gift with a $50 purchase. There are only two days left for this year’s Sale-A-Bration so now is your last chance to get this beautiful paper! These cards are easy peasy to put together and require very little stamping – just a greeting! I wanted to show off the paper to its full effect.

Here is how I made the first card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of Favored Flowers DSP at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Use your paper trimmer to place the DSP on the diagonal, lining up opposite points with the cutting track and cut. Hold paper and carefully turn so that the two remaining opposite corners are lined up with the cutting track and cut. You can choose to use one sheet of DSP and use the front and back for the card or you can cut two different pieces of DSP and mix and match the designs.
  • Adhere the pieces with the long ends at the top and bottom of the card. Adhere the pieces with the shorter ends on the sides of the card. There will be a space in the center of the card and that’s okay because the greeting will cover it. I used liquid adhesive to give me a bit more wiggle room when adhering the pieces.
  • Stamp a greeting of your choice with Blackberry Bliss ink on a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock. I chose a greeting from the Charming Sentiments stamp set. Run through die cutting machine with a circle die from the Stylish Shapes die set. Run a scrap piece of Blackberry Bliss through die cutting machine with a larger circle from the Stylish Shapes die set. Adhere to greeting and adhere the piece to the center of the card.
  • For the inside of the card cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Cut a strip of the DSP at 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to bottom of the cardstock. Adhere to inside of card.

I made the second card as my customer thank you’s for January. Here is how I made it.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut two pieces of the DSP, one at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and one at 2 3/4″ x 2 1/2″. Adhere the larger piece to the card base. Cut a piece of Petal Pink cardstock at 3″ x 3 3/4″ and adhere it to the smaller piece of DSP. Adhere piece to card front.
  • Run a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock through die cutting machine with the second smallest rounded edge die from the Tailor Made Tags dies. Stamp greeting with Mossy Meadow ink. I chose the greeting from the Biggest Wish stamp set.
  • Cut a piece of a 1/4″ or 1/8″ of ribbon at 8″. Slide through the hole at the top of the tag and make a slip knot. Cut ends of ribbon at an angle. I used Petal Pink ribbon that is retired, as it worked perfectly on the card!
  • For the inside of the card, I did the same thing as for the first card.
