Painted Poppies Dress

Today I’m sharing a floral dress card that uses a template from an old issue of Stamper’s Sampler magazine. I featured several other dress cards in previous blog posts and have included links to them at the end of this post. This dress uses products from the Peaceful Poppies Suite, some of which will be retiring on June 2nd. I always loved playing with paper dolls as a young girl so making these dresses has been a fun way to play as an adult!

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut piece of Basic Black cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score and fold in half.
  • Cut piece of Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper at 4″ x 5 1/4″. I used the sheet with the Poppy Parade watercolor wash design. Die cut the cluster of poppies in the left top corner of the DSP with the die from the Poppy Moments Dies. Adhere to card base.
  • For the dress base I used a piece of a Black Foil sheet and traced around the template on the back of the sheet because the back is matte white and easy to see the trace lines. Cut out dress.
  • Next, have fun decorating the dress.
  • I selected a bunch of die-cut printed accents from the Peaceful Poppies Elements that I thought would look pretty on the dress. I knew I wanted to place the large red poppy at the waistline so I adhered it to the dress, only applying the adhesive to the center of the piece. Then I arranged the embossed vellum leaves and flowers on the the dress and once I was happy with how it looked I partially adhered them to the dress. I used liquid glue sparingly, placing small dots along the embossed lines on the leaves and in the centers of the flowers.
  • Decorate the neckline of the dress by adhering clear flower-shaped sequins from the Peaceful Poppies Sequins with Mini Glue Dots. The glue dots are larger than the sequins so I lifted the glue dots off the sheet and then rolled them into tiny balls to fit the bottom of the sequins.
  • Adhere dress to card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4. Adhere the scalloped border die-cut accent from the Peaceful Poppies Elements and adhere piece to inside of card. I decided not to use a greeting so the inside is blank.

These products will be retiring on June 2nd so this is your last chance to purchase them: Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper, Peaceful Poppies Elements, Peaceful Poppies Sequins.

Share Sunshine with Peaceful Poppies

Today I’m sharing a bunch of cards I made with the Share Sunshine PDF download. Last week, Sara Douglas, CEO of Stampin’ Up! hosted a Facebook Live session as part of SU’s Virtual Day of Service. All employees were given a kit and an instruction sheet to make cards to send to family, friends and those on the frontline in the pandemic. Demonstrators and customers were able to join Sara from her home as she and her family made their cards. The instruction sheet includes a template for cutting a piece of 12″ x 12″ sheet of Designer Series Paper and some suggested card layouts. You can use any DSP in your collection for this project. I chose to use two sheets from the Peaceful Poppies DSP, which will be retiring next week. I made ten cards that I will be sending out. They were quick and easy to put together and I had fun making them.

I printed out the pages I chose to use on Whisper White cardstock and in my printer settings I used one of the premium settings because the cardstock is heavier than a regular sheet of paper. All of the greetings on front and insides of the cards are cut from the PDF download using a variety of punches and dies. I also added some bakers twine and some of the Peaceful Poppies Elements. NO stamping is required!

Botanical Prints-Kylie’s Training Blog Hop

Hello! Welcome to Kylie Bertucci’s Demonstrator Training Blog Hop for May. I’m part of a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world that participate in Kylie’s program for building our businesses. Please be sure to click on the names in the list at the end of this post to hop around and view the beautiful cards posted by so many talented stampers.

Today’s card features the Botanical Prints Product Medley in the 2020 Mini Catalog. I fell in love with this medley as soon as I saw it in the catalog, ordered it right away and then it sat, untouched until I finally pulled it out over the weekend. I don’t know how I neglected this – obviously got sidetracked somewhere along the way! I made a bunch of these cards to thank customers for their April orders. This lovely set will be retiring on June 2nd and I will be sad to see it go. I used the same layout as the Free as a Bird card I posted last week for Kylie’s International Blog Highlights, as it is a great way to showcase our designer series papers.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″ and fold in half.
  • Cut piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. This will be used as the base to attach the DSP and ribbon.
  • Cut one piece of DSP at 2″ x 5 1/4″ and two contrasting pieces of DSP at 2″ x 2/12″ and 2″ x 2 3/4″ and adhere to card.
  • Cut piece of ribbon at 6″ and adhere to card, covering center seam of the DSP, folding both ends of the ribbon to the back of the card. I used a small piece of tape to hold them in place. Adhere this base to the card base.
  • Stamp floral image on scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock. Stamp greeting with Tuxdeo Black Memento Ink, using the Stamparatus to position it so it is centered properly.
  • Cut oval with the die from Layering Ovals set. Cut piece of Terracotta Tile cardstock with a scalloped die from the Layering Ovals set.
  • Color the image with Stampin’ Blends. I used Old Olive light and dark for the leaves, Cajun Craze light and dark, Pumpkin Pie light for the flowers. Adhere image to the Terracotta Tile oval piece.
  • Adhere oval to center of card. Use several Mini Glue Dots to adhere dragonfly to image.

Tropical Oasis Double Z Fold Card

Hello! Today’s card is a Double Z Fold card made with products from the Tropical Oasis Suite. This was one of the projects I had prepared for my club, which meets in-person six times a year. However with the sheltering in place orders I had to switch it to a virtual club and mail out kits. Since I didn’t have enough time to prepare in advance the club members didn’t have the Timeless Tropical stamp set on hand so I kept the stamping to a minimum so that they could each use greetings from stamp sets in their own collections. I added more die cut pieces and a label that would accommodate whatever greetings they used.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″ and fold in half.
  • Z fold base – cut piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock at 4″ x 10 1/4″, score at 2 1/2″ and 5″ and fold on score lines.
  • Cut one piece of Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Cut two pieces of DSP at 2 1/4″ x 3 3/4″. For one of these pieces you can use a contrasting piece of DSP. Adhere to Z fold piece. If you cut a contrasting piece of DSP adhere it to the middle section.
  • Die cut two of the labels from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies set. One uses a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock for the greeting. Stamp thank you greeting from the So Sentimental stamp set with Terracotta Tile ink. Cut the larger label with scrap piece of Terracotta Tile cardstock.
  • Die cut a variety of leaves from Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz cardstock with the dies from the In the Tropics dies. I also used the large fern die from the Tropical die set. Before adhering the two labels together, position two of the larger leaves in between both pieces at the top part of the label and then adhere them to the Terracotta label, then adhering both label pieces together. Place label halfway on top of the bottom fold. Arrange remaining leaves under the piece and then adhere them before adhering the label to the card. Apply adhesive only on the bottom half of the label in order to keep the Z fold open.
  • Add a Noble Peacock rhinestone to the greeting for a touch of bling.
  • For the inside of the card, cut piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Stamp greeting of your choice. Adhere to inside of Pretty Peacock card base. Adhere Z fold piece to card base to complete the card.

Tropical Oasis Fun Fold Card

Hello! Today’s card features the Tropical Oasis Suite and the fun fold was inspired by a recent blog post from Patty Bennett. This is such a fun suite and I especially love the bright and cheery Designer Series Papers.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Cut piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. Cut piece of DSP at 5 1/4″ x 11 3/4″. Score at 1 3/4″, 4 3/4″ and 7 3/4″ and fold accordion style. You can either adhere the smaller front flap to the larger one or leave it open.
  • Cut Grapefruit Grove label with next-to-largest die in the Stitched Nested Label die set.
  • Cut Daffodil Delight pineapple base with coordinating die from the In the Tropics set. Cut Old Olive leaf with die from set. Adhere pineapple base to bottom of label. The leaf has some partial cut outs. Pop them open and lightly curl them so they stand out. Adhere bottom part of leaf making sure that top part extends over top of label .
  • Die cut “aloha” from scrap piece of Real Red cardstock. Adhere to pineapple base with either a Fine Tip Glue Pen or a liquid adhesive.
  • Partially adhere the label piece to the front flap, leaving part of the right side unattached in order to be able to open the card.
  • Cut another label from Whisper White cardstock. Stamp the birthday greeting from the Timeless Tropical stamp set with Real Red ink. Adhere to the inside of the card, making sure that you place it close the fold so that it doesn’t stick out when the front flap is folded over.
  • Adhere folded DSP piece to the card base. You can keep the remaining flaps open or glue them shut. If you keep the back of the flaps open you can decorate them with die cuts or stamp additional greetings on pieces of Whisper White cardstock.

I’m happy that the stamp set and dies will be carrying over to the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalog, however please note that they will no longer be sold as a bundle at the 10% discount. The coordinating products such as the DSP, embossing folder, trinkets, etc. will be retiring and will only continue to be available while supplies last.
