Fine Art Floral Cards

Hello! Today I’m sharing two cards I made with the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper and the Golden Garden Designer Specialty Acetate from the Fine Art Floral Suite. The DSP is beautiful on its own, however, the acetate adds a wow pop of gold! I used two different sheets of the DSP and the coordinating acetate sheets. I made a bunch of these cards so I could have a few extras on hand.

Here is how I made the cards.

For the card bases I chose a few different colors of cardstock that coordinated with the DSP. For these two cards I used Poppy Parade and Flirty Flamingo. Cut cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
Cut one piece each of Flirty Flamingo and Poppy Parade cardstock at 1″ x 4″.
Cut piece of Basic White cardstock at 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and adhere to front of card base.
Overlay the acetate sheet over the DSP to make sure that the two designs line up in the right direction. Once that is done, put the acetate sheets aside and cut strips of the DSP at 4″ x 12″ and then cut the length of the strip down to 5 1/4″. You will get two full pieces per strip.
Cut strips of the acetate sheets at 4″ x 12″ and then cut the length of the strips down to 5 1/4″. You will get two full pieces from each strip. Match each of these pieces with the coordinating DSP pieces.
To adhere the acetate to the DSP adhere a few mini glue dots on the back of acetate sheet in spots where they will not show.
Stamp greetings from the Art Gallery stamp set on scrap pieces of Basic White cardstock with Flirty Flamingo and Poppy Parade ink. Cut with the label dies from the Floral Gallery dies. I used the thank you and birthday greetings. Adhere to the 1″ cardstock strips. Adhere strips to the DSP pieces. I didn’t want the large flowers to be covered up by the strip so for each piece I adhered them either higher up or lower down.
Cut a 24″ length of Fine Art Floral ribbon and tie in a bow around the DSP piece over the cardstock strip. Trim ends. This ribbon is so soft to work with and adds a touch of elegance to the cards.
Adhere DSP piece to the Basic White cardstock piece on the card front.
Cut another piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and stamp a greeting or leave blank. I decided to leave the cards I made blank so I could personalize them for each recipient.

Handsomely Suited Polo Shirt Cards

Hello! I needed a few masculine birthday cards so I turned to the Well Suited Suite in the mini catalog. I saw a few cute cards made by Tina Zinck and Michelle Strazds on Pinterest that were made to look like polo shirts and CASEd them, making a few changes. I did one in Night of Navy and the other in Smoky Slate. They were a lot of fun and very easy to put together!

Here is how I made the cards.

Card base – cut piece of Night of Navy or Smoky Slate cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
Cut piece of Well Suited Designer Series Paper at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Cut a “V” in the center. I used the collar die from the Suit and Ties Dies and made the “V” by centering the die at the 2″ mark, slightly below the top of the DSP, traced with a pencil and cut out with Paper Snips.
Die cut collar and long strip with either Night of Navy or Basic Gray cardstock. The long strip will be used for the button placket. Trim the strip to 2″ and adhere to DSP below the center of the “V.” Adhere collar piece.
Die cut pocket from DSP and die cut the contrasting trip with the small strip die. Adhere to top of pocket. Adhere to DSP base.
Die cut Basic White buttons with the button die. There are six buttons on the one die so I used three for each card. Adhere them to the placket. I used the putty tip on the Take Your Pick tool to pick up each button, place them on Mini Glue Dots, and then onto the placket.

For the Night of Navy card stamp the birthday greeting from the Handsomely Suited stamp set with Night of Navy ink on scrap piece of Basic White cardstock and punch out with the Tailored Tag punch. Adhere to DSP base. Adhere DSP piece to Night of Navy card base.

For the Smoky Slate card stamp the birthday greeting with Basic Gray ink. Punch out with the Tailored Tag Punch. Punch another tag with a scrap piece of Basic Gray cardstock. Cut in half horizontally. Adhere one piece to top of tag and the other piece to the bottom of the tag so that it frames the Basic White tag. Adhere to DSP base and adhere entire piece to Smoky Slate card base.
Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Leave blank or stamp a greeting and adhere to inside of card.

Fine Art Floral Happy Birthday

Hello! Today I have two birthday cards for you that feature the Fine Art Floral Suite. I used the same layout for both but changed up the colors. I used the pink tones for one and the blue tones for the other.

Here is how I made the card.

Card base – cut piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
Cut piece of Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper at 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and adhere to front of card. Cut another piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock at 2 7/8″ x 4 5/8″. Cut a contrasting piece of Fine Art Floral DSP at 2 3/4″ x 4 1/2″ and adhere to Flirty Flamingo piece.
Use the Art Gallery stamp set and stamp the flower with Petal Pink and Flirty Flamingo ink. Stamp the leaves with Old Olive ink. Cut out with coordinating dies from the Floral Gallery Dies set. Stamp birthday greeting with Flirty Flamingo ink on scrap piece of Basic White cardstock. Cut out with one of the labels in the dies set.

Adhere greeting at bottom of the smaller card front. Arrange leaves and flower. Adhere leaves and then adhere flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Cut a length of Organdy Striped Ribbon and tie in bow around the piece. Adhere piece to card front.

Follow the above steps to make the blue version of the card.

Card base – Night of Navy cardstock, Pool Party cardstock for smaller card base
DSP – select papers from the blue family in the set
Ink – Mossy Meadow for the leaves, Night of Navy and Pool Party for the flower. Night of Navy for the birthday greeting.
Ribbon – Pool Party Sheer Ribbon

For the inside of both cards:

Cut piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″.
Stamp sentiment from the Happy Thoughts stamp set with Night of Navy /Flirty Flamingo ink.
Stamp small flower in lower left corner with either the Night of Navy/Pool Party combination or the Flirty Flamingo/Petal Pink combination of inks. Adhere to inside of card.

Handsomely Suited Birthday Card

Hello! Today I’m sharing a fun card I made with products from the new Well Suited Suite. This is a great suite for making masculine cards for many occasions. The Handsomely Suited stamp set has a nice variety of greetings and type fonts and the Designer Series Paper is fabulous! The fabric designs for the men’s suits, shirts and ties are so realistic. I made this card for my father, who will be celebrating his 99th birthday this Saturday – it is hard to believe!!

Here is how I made the card.

Card base – cut a piece of Basic Gray cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
Cut a piece of Well Suited DSP at 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and adhere to card front.
Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ and using the third largest rectangle from the Stitched Rectangles dies, run it through your embossing machine.
Select three different pieces of DSP and from each, die cut the bow ties with the large bow tie and small knot dies from the Suit & Ties Dies. Adhere the knots to the bow ties. Adhere two of them to the top part of the rectangle. Adhere one to the bottom of the rectangle, leaving space in between for the greeting.
Stamp greeting on scrap piece of Basic White cardstock with Basic Gray ink. Punch out with the Tailored Tag punch. This is one of my all-time favorite Stampin’ Up! punches! To add a touch of contrast, punch another tag from a scrap piece of Basic Gray cardstock. Cut in half horizontally. Adhere one half to the top of the tag and the other half to the bottom of the tag, leaving just a little bit of the gray showing.
Wrap a piece of Night of Navy Twine around the blank section between the bow ties four times. Start wrapping from the back of the piece, taping the tail down with Scotch Tape or Tear and Tape. After the fourth wrap, cut twine from the spool and tape again.
Adhere piece to card front. Adhere the greeting over the twine with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and stamp a greeting with Basic Gray ink. Stamp a bow tie with Night of Navy ink in bottom left corner. Adhere to inside of card.

Sneak Peek – Fine Art Floral Suite

Hello! All of my holiday stamps and papers have been put away and it is now time to break out some new products from the January-June 2021 Mini Catalog that will go live on January 5th! Today I have a card that features some of the products from the Fine Art Floral Suite. The Designer Series Papers are gorgeous. They were hand painted by Stampin’ Up! artists and were then photographed and turned into the DSP.

Here is how I made the card.

Card base – cut a piece of Terracotta Tile cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
Cut piece of the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to card front.
Cut a contrasting piece of DSP at 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ and run through your die cutting machine with the third largest scalloped rectangle die from the Stitched So Sweetly die set. Adhere to card front, off center and at an angle.
For the stamped image use the the floral spray in the Art Gallery stamp set. In order to use more than one ink color on the image you will have to stamp it multiple times. This is a photopolymer stamp, which is hard to color on with markers the way you do with a rubber stamp. First stamp the image with Pretty Peacock ink on a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and then stamp the same image on a other scrap piece of cardstock with Terracotta Tile ink. For added contrast color in the white spaces with the light Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blend.

Run both stamped images through your die cutting machine with the coordinating die from the Floral Gallery Dies. Trim off the leaves from the Terracotta Tile stamped image and adhere the flower part over the flowers on the Pretty Peacock stamped image. Adhere to the die cut scalloped piece on the card front.
Stamp greeting with Pretty Peacock ink on 1/2″ wide scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and trim ends with paper snips. Adhere on top of the floral image with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
For extra bling add three small Gilded Gems around the flower.
For the inside of the card cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Stamp another greeting in Pretty Peacock ink. I used “Best Wishes.” Ink up the top part of the floral image stamp with Terracotta Tile ink and stamp in bottom left corner . Adhere to the inside.

Fancy Phrases Birthday Cards

Hello! I made a few birthday cards to send out this month and thought it was the perfect time to break out Fancy Phrases, a new set in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. The floral images are lovely and if you like to color, you will enjoy using your Stampin’ Blends or watercoloring. I also like the variety of greetings and type fonts included in this set. I used an easy fun fold that I think shows off the colored image beautifully.

One of my favorite color combinations is gray and yellow and I haven’t used it in awhile so I decided to make two cards, each with different shades from the two color families.

The first card uses Basic Gray and Bumble Bee.

The second card uses Gray Granite and So Saffron for a softer look.

Here is how I made the cards.

First card base: Cut piece of Basic Gray or Gray Granite cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 6 1/2″. Score at 2 1/4″, fold and crease sharply with a bone folder. Second card base: Cut piece of Bumblebee or So Saffron cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 6 1/2″, score at 3 1/4″, fold and crease sharply with a bone folder.
Cut two pieces of the large Bumblebee floral paper from the Flowers from Every Season Designer Series Paper or two pieces of a Gray Granite paper from the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper at 2″ x 5 1/4″. Adhere to front and inside flap of the larger card base.
Cut two pieces of Whisper White cardstock at 3″ x 4″. Stamp the large floral image with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and stamp the birthday greeting Basic Gray ink. For the inside of the card stamp another greeting with Basic Gray ink and stamp the smaller flower with the Memento ink in the bottom left corner of the card. I used the Stamparatus for the large image and greeting in order to position it perfectly.

Color the images. I used the light and dark So Saffron and Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends for the flowers and light and dark Old Olive Stampin’ Blends for the leaves.

Adhere the colored in images to the smaller yellow card bases. Make sure that the opening is to the left side before adhering to the larger gray card bases in order to have them overlap the front of the card when folded. The front flap of the larger card bases will be tucked into the opening of the smaller card bases.
Embellish the card front with a few pearlescent white Elegant Faceted Gems. On the inside of the smaller yellow card bases I adhered square vellum doilies for an extra-added touch.

To my readers, I will be taking a week-10-day hiatus from blogging. In addition to my Stampin’ Up! business I have an information consulting business and was recently asked to give a presentation to a local women’s business group I belong to on September 8. I’ve done many presentations over the years but this is on a new topic so I have to start from scratch. All of my energies need to be focused there. I will still be making new cards during this time and look forward to sharing them with you when I return. I will also be re-organizing my craft room-it’s time to pack away retired products to make room for all of my new goodies!

Come Sail Away Quick Card Ideas

Today I’m sharing two quick card ideas using the Come Sail Away Memories and More Card Pack which is part of the Come Sail Away Suite. I’ve really enjoyed making many cards with this product suite. They make perfect “guy” cards! I’m happy that the Sailing Home stamp set and coordinating Smooth Sailing Dies will be carrying over to the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalog however, all of the other products in the suite, including the Card Pack, are on the Last Chance list and will only be available while supplies last. The Card Pack is now $7.70, a 30% discount. Using the Card Pack makes putting cards together a breeze!

I recently made this card to send to my brother for his birthday. I did some stamping on this card but it still didn’t take much time to put it together. Here is how I made the card.

Card base – cut piece of Crumb Cake cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″ and fold in half.
Cut piece of the newsprint paper from the Come Sail Away Designer Series Papers at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to front of card.
Select a coordinating 3″ x 4″ card from the Card Pack. Stamp a greeting with Soft Suede ink and embellish with stickers from the Card Pack. I used greetings from the Perennial Birthday stamp set, one of my “go to” birthday greeting sets. Note: this set is on the Last Chance list.
Cut piece of Crumb Cake cardstock at 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ and adhere to the stamped piece.
Tie piece of Mini Braided Linen Trim around front of card and fray the edges. Attach Card Pack piece to front of card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the inside of the card, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Using one of the pieces of braided trim from the Card Pack stickers, adhere to edge on left side of piece and trim off the excess length.
Stamp birthday greeting with Soft Suede ink. Using the smaller sailboat image from the Sailing Home stamp set, stamp bottom boat with Crumb Cake ink. For the second boat, ink the stamp with Crumb Cake, stamp off and then stamp onto piece, overlapping the bottom boat.
Adhere to inside of card.

I made this card to send to my father. He is 98 years old and lives in a personal care facility nearby, however, due to Covid-19 I haven’t been able to visit with him since March 12 and am only able to do limited FaceTime sessions with him, so I send him cards every other week to say hello. There is no stamping on this card so it took very little time to put it together. Here is how I made this card.

Card base – cut piece of Night of Navy cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ and fold in half.
Select one of the 4″ x 6″ cards from the Card Pack and cut 1/2″ off both sides of the card in order for it to fit onto the front of the card. Add one of the stickers from the Card Pack as an embellishment.

For the inside of the card cut a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to card.
Select a 3″ x 4″ card with plenty of space for writing a note. The lighthouse image has lines so it is perfect for writing! I also used the “Love You” sticker from the Card Pack.
