Snowflake Wishes

Hello! Today I’m sharing another card I made that uses products from the Snowflake Splendor suite in the holiday catalog. I CASED this card from Kylie Bertucci because it is a unique layout and a great way to showcase our beautiful Designer Series Papers. The Snowflake Splendor DSP uses many of the blues in our color families. I selected Seaside Spray for the card base although this is not one of the colors in the DSP, but blends beautifully with the colors in the paper and gives the card a soft look.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Seaside Spray cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″, fold and crease with a bone folder
  • Cut two pieces of Snowflake Splendor DSP at 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″. Use the largest die from the Stitched Nested Labels dies and cut out the two labels. Cut a contrasting piece of DSP at 2 3/4″ x 4 1/2″ and cut with the 2 1/4″ x 4″ Stitched Nested Label die, which is the third largest in the set.
  • On the two larger labels trim one end on each so that each piece measures 3 7/8″ . Save one of the ends. On the smaller label trim one end so that it measures 2 3/4″.
  • Adhere the two large labels with the trimmed ends flush against the left edge of the card, butting the pieces up against one another. Adhere the smaller label over the large labels, centering it with the point in the seam between the larger labels. Using the end of the label piece that you saved, adhere it to the card base, centering in the V-shape where the two labels meet and flush against the right side of the card.
  • Next, create the snowflake embellishment. Die cut a snowflake from a scrap piece of Silver Foil. Select one of the larger snowflakes from the So Many Snowflakes dies. Stamp a smaller snowflake image from the Snowflake Wishes stamp set with Misty Moonlight ink on scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock. Die cut with coordinating die. Die cut another snowflake with scrap piece of Seaside Spray cardstock, selecting one of the smaller dies in the set.
  • Adhere the three snowflakes together with glue dots placed in the centers of the two smaller snowflakes. Adhere entire snowflake piece to the smaller label with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Adhere a blue gem to center of snowflake.
  • Cut piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/2″. Stamp greeting of your choice from the stamp set with Misty Moonlight ink. Stamp the little snowflake cluster image with Seaside Spray ink in lower left corner. Adhere to inside of card.

Poinsettia Petals

Hello! Today’s card features products from the Poinsettia Place Suite in the August-December 2020 Mini Catalog. This is one of the cards I will be including in my upcoming virtual holiday workshops. The products in this suite are so pretty! I also like that the Designer Series Paper uses the Christmas colors we all love, but the designs are not the typical stripes, plaids, checks, trees, etc. that you find in so many papers. The stamps and dies, along with beautiful sentiments and type fonts make for great versatility. Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut piece of Garden Green cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece from one of the papers with white poinsettia images at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to card base.
  • Cut another piece of Garden Green cardstock at 3″ x 4 1/2″. Cut piece of the Garden Green DSP with the tone-on-tone pine branches at 2 3/4″ x 4 1/4″ and adhere to cardstock. Adhere to center of card front.
  • Die cut one small and one medium poinsettia from scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock. There are two dies for each size of poinsettia, one is open and the other fits inside and has lines for embossing the veins of the flowers. Use both pieces. Adhere the two cut pieces with a Mini Glue Dot. The leaf shapes also have two pieces for each size. Die cut two leaves from scrap piece of Garden Green cardstock and use both dies so that the leaves are embossed. Adhere the leaves to the poinsettia flower with glue dots. Die cut the flower center from a small scrap of Bumblebee cardstock. Adhere with a glue dot. Adhere entire flower to upper corner of the card with liquid glue for better positioning.
  • Stamp greeting with Garden Green ink on scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock. Cut with the banner die from the Tasteful Labels Dies. Adhere to card.
  • For the inside of the card, cut piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4 and stamp greeting with Garden Green ink. I used the Merry Christmas greeting. Stamp one of the leaf images in the bottom left corner. Adhere to card.

This was a quick and easy card to put together.

Arrange a Wreath Christmas Card

Hello! Today I’m sharing a fun fold Christmas card that features the Arrange a Wreath bundle. This is one of my favorite bundles in the annual catalog. It is so versatile because there are endless possibilities for you to make seasonal as well as all-occasion cards. This is one of the projects we made in my August class to go.

Here is how I made the card:

  • Card base – cut piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 2 ¾” and 8 ¼”, fold and crease sharply with bone folder.  This is a fun fold so the sharper the crease the better the folds will lay flat.
  • Cut four pieces of one of the lighter wood image papers from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper at 2 1/2″ x 4″. Run all four pieces of the DSP through the Tasteful Textile embossing folder.  Adhere to front and inside card flaps.
  • Stamp leaf wreath from the Arrange a Wreath stamp set with Shaded Spruce ink on 3 5/8” x 3 7/8” piece of Very Vanilla.
  • Cut piece of gold metallic brushed foil at 3 3/4″ square and die cut with the leaf wreath from the Wreath Builder dies.  Adhere over the stamped wreath image.
  • Cut piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock at 3 3/4″ x 4″. Adhere the wreath image to this piece.
  • Stamp pheasant with Soft Suede ink and three pears with Crushed Curry ink on scrap piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.  You will notice that there are two pear images on both the one stamp and coordinating die.  It makes stamping and cutting the same pieces multiple times faster. Die cut images, arrange around wreath and adhere to card.  For added dimension you can use Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Die cut the full bow and bow loops from a scrap piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  Adhere the centers together with small dot of liquid glue and adhere to top of wreath.
  • Stamp greeting with Cherry Cobbler ink on scrap piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.  Die cut with smallest oval in the Stitched Shapes dies set.  Adhere to wreath with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Adhere the wreath piece to the left front flap.  Be sure to only apply adhesive to the left side of the piece, leaving the right side unattached so that the can card open.
  • Stamp pheasant with Soft Suede ink in bottom left corner of the 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. Stamp a greeting if you choose.  I used a greeting from the Toile Christmas stamp set and stamped it with Cherry Cobbler ink.

Brightly Gleaming Gift Card Holder

Today I’m featuring a gift card holder made with the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper. I got the idea for this card from a Halloween card posted by Jackie Bolhuis on her Klompen Stampers blog. I loved how easy it was to put together, while at the same time, being such a great way to showcase our beautiful papers.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base: Cut piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″ and score at 1 1/2″ and 5 1/2″. Fold along score lines with bone folder.
  • Cut one piece of DSP at 3 3/4″ x 4″ for front of card and adhere. Cut two pieces at 1 1/4″ x 4″ for inside of card. Adhere one piece at right edge of card the other piece on the folded flap.
  • Cut piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 3 3/4″ x 4″ and stamp greeting with Pretty Peacock ink. I used one of the greetings from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set. Adhere to inside of card, close to fold line, so that it does not show when the front of the card is folded.
  • Using the 1″ circle punch, position it in the center of the inside folded flap and cut a half-circle. This will make it easy to slide the gift card in and out. Run a thin line of liquid glue along short sides of the flap and adhere.
  • Tie piece of Old Olive/Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon around front of card, making a knot.
  • For the little tag on the front of the card, stamp greeting with Pretty Peacock ink on small scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock. I used the “Be Merry” stamp from the Tidings All Around set. Cut out using the tag die in the Ornate Frames die set. Thread piece of Linen Thread through the tag and tie to ribbon with a knot.

Perfectly Plaid Foil Box

Hello! Today is my first day back to blogging after being absent for almost two weeks. In addition to preparing for and running my holiday classes I am going through a total kitchen renovation from top to bottom and had to clear out the contents of all the cabinets at the same time. It’s taken me a while to play catch up but I’m finally back on track. Demolition began on November 18th and the project is scheduled to be completed a few days before Christmas – quite an extravagant present to me!! My entire house is upside down – boxes everywhere, refrigerator, kitchen table, microwave all in my dining room, with other stuff scattered about in the basement and my guest room. I normally photograph my projects in my dining room because that is where I get the best light, so I’ve had to switch to my craft room and the light fixture in that room produces a terrible glare from all angles, so it has been challenging. I apologize for the quality of photos that will appear in my blog posts in the next few weeks. It’s all worth the trouble because I”m going to have a beautiful kitchen in the end! I will be sure to post before and after pictures later this month.

Now onto today’s project, a treat box featuring products from the Wrapped in Plaid Suite in the Holiday Catalog. The Gold Mini Pizza Boxes are the perfect touch for some holiday glitz.

Here’s how I made the project.

  • Fold on the scored lines to create the box.
  • Cut piece of Night of Navy cardstock at 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″and adhere to box lid. Cut piece of Wrapped in Plaid Specialty Desgner Series Paper at 3″ x 3″ and adhere to Night of Navy square.
  • Stamp greeting from Perfectly Plaid stamp set in Cherry Cobbler ink on scrap piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. Die cut using the 2nd smallest of the longer dies from the Stitched Rectangles die set. Adhere to the DSP square.
  • Select two pieces of DSP using the other side of the plaids. Punch out two trees with the Pine Tree Punch. Punch a hole at the top of each tree with a 1/8″ hole puncher.
  • Tie piece of ribbon around box, leaving it loose enough so that it will slide on and off easily. The ribbon I used is retired but I really liked how it looked. You can use the Shaded Spruce Gold ribbon that is part of the suite or any ribbon of your choice.
  • Cut piece of linen thread and slide it through the holes in the tops of the trees and tie around the ribbon bow. Trim ends.

Easy peasy for an elegant little gift box!
