Toile Bird

Hello! It’s been a while since I last posted. Two weeks ago my laptop had an unfortunate, unplanned meet up with a cup of tea that spilled on my desk, and unfortunately also got into the laptop. After having to wait a few days for my tech person to work on it due to scheduling conflicts, I received the bad news that while the hard drive was okay, that for technical reasons he would have to start from scratch reloading all of my software, etc. I’m still in the recovery process to restore documents, contacts, etc – what a mess!! I’m having some issues accessing WordPress on my laptop and have been avoiding using it on my iPad because it is more cumbersome but couldn’t wait any longer to post, so for better or worse, I’m back ?

Today’s card features the beautiful bird from the Toile Tidings suite. I had been planning to submit it today to Kylie’s Demonstrator Training blog hop but wasn’t able to pull it off. Here is how I made the card.

I started with a Real Red card base cut at 5 1/2″ x 11″ and folded it in half. Next I cut a piece of Toile Tidings DSP at 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ and adhered it to the card. I cut a piece of Real Red cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 2 1/2″. I stamped the bird image with Versamark ink and then embossed it with the fun, new Shimmer White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then stamped and embossed the greeting. I adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The photos don’t do justice to how sparkly the embossing looks in person! Next I die cut four Real Red filigree corners from the Detailed Deer dies and adhered them with the Fine Tip Glue Pen to each of the corners on the DSP. For the inside of the card I cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and stamped the “tidings of comfort and joy” greeting and the large scroll image from the stamp set with Real Red ink.

Toile Christmas -Kylie’s Training Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to Kylie’s Demonstrator Training Blog Hop for October! I’m part of a group of talented Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world that participate in Kylie Bertucci’s program for building our businesses.

Today’s card features the Toile Christmas stamp set. The Toile Tidings Suite was my top pick when I placed my holiday catalog pre-order. I thought the Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Card would make a beautiful background and it didn’t dissapoint! I originally planned on using one of the Toile Tidings Designer Series Papers to place under the lace cut-out, however after auditioning all of them I decided to go with a plain piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, which makes the bird stand out more.

Here’s how I made the card.

  • Cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock to fit under the front of a Bird Ballad Laser-Cut card, apply liquid glue lightly around the edge and adhere.
  • Stamp image of cardinal and tree branch with Memento Black Ink on piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. Color the cardinal with the light and dark Real Red Stampin’ Blends markers. Color the beak with the dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends marker. Color the tree branch with the dark Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends marker. Color leaves with the dark Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends marker and the berries with the dark Real Red Stampin’ Blends marker.
  • Die cut images with the coordinating Christmas Cardinal dies. Adhere to front of card with liquid glue.

Stamp the Christmas Wishes greeting with Real Red ink on piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and cut with coordinating die. Adhere to card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Add a Red Rhinestone jewel to the banner.

For the inside of the card stamp the greeting with Real Red ink and a flourish in Shaded Spruce ink.

Feels Like Frost Sneak Peek

Today I have a card for you featuring Feels Like Frost, one of my favorite suites from the new 2019 Holiday Catalog. The products in this suite are so pretty. The Designer Series Paper is amazing – photographic images in wonderful non-traditional Christmas colors on one side and silver foil images on the other side! Stampin’ Up! has brought back Crystal Effects, which they retired a few years ago – yay! Pair this with the fun new Ice Stampin’ Glitter to give your projects a frosty, sparkly effect. The new Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon is soft and shimmery. All of these products will be available as of September 4th.

Here is how I made this card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Night of Navy cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″ and fold in half.
  • Cut a piece of the Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to card base.
  • Die cut a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock with the stitched frame from the Frosted Frames Dies. Ink up the berry branch from the Frosted Foliage stamp set with Seaside Spray ink, stamp off and then stamp onto die cut piece. Stamp yuletide greeting with Night of Navy ink over the branch.
  • Cut piece of Seaside Spray 1/4″ Metallic Ribbon and make ribbon loop. I used a few small pieces of Scotch Tape to hold them in place.
  • Die cut one set of leaves from scrap piece of Seaside Spray cardstock. The die makes two leaves from the one piece. Apply Shimmery Crystal Effects onto the leaves and then sprinkle them with the Ice Stampin’ Glitter. Let dry for an hour before handling them. Once dry, adhere the leaves, using a thin line of liquid glue, to the opposite corners of the frame piece.
  • Finish off the card by adhering the greeting over the ribbon loops. Adhere a few Seaside Spray sequins from the Woven Threads Sequin Assortment for a little extra bling.

Dashing Deer Thanks

Today I’m featuring the second card I made using the Dashing Deer Bundle.  For this card I used the Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper shown in the Annual Catalog on page 95.  It is part of the Under the Mistletoe Suite.  Sometimes we get caught up in the excitement of all the new things in the Holiday Catalog and forget that there is a whole section of Holiday items in the Annual Catalog and I knew as soon as I saw this paper that I wanted to use it in this year’s holiday projects.

Here are the steps to make this card:

  • Cut a piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and fold in half.  Cut a piece of the plaid paper of your choice from the Under the Mistletoe designer series paper at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Tie a piece of 1/8″ Solid Real Red Ribbon around paper to make a bow.
  • Using Gold Foil paper, die cut the deer  from the solid die in the Detailed Deer Thinlits set.  Die cut the open red flower with Real Red cardstock.
  • Emboss a piece of Old Olive cardstock with the Swirls and Curls Textured Impressions Embossing Folder shown on page 5 in the Holiday Catalog. Die cut this piece using one of the large circles in the Layering Circles Framelits. Die cut a piece of Real Red cardstock with a coordinating scalloped circle from the set. Attach the two pieces.  Stamp the Many Merry Thanks sentiment from the Dashing Deer stamp set on Whisper White cardstsock and die cut using one of the smaller circle framelits.  Die cut a piece of Real Red cardstock with a coordinating scallop circle.  Attach the two pieces.

  • Attach the plaid paper to the card base.  Attach the embossed circle to the card.  Attach the deer at an angle.  I used Tombow Multi-Purpose Glue because it allows you to move things around and position them more easily and it also dries clear.  Attach the Many Merry Thanks sentiment.

Dashing Deer Meets Joyous Noel

I finally found time to begin playing with all of the new products I ordered from the 2018 Holiday Catalog!  Today I am featuring the first of two cards I created using the Dashing Deer Bundle pictured on pages 8-9. I love how the deer antlers form a pretty flourish.  I also like the thank you sentiments included in the stamp set because at holiday time it is nice to reach out and thank people for things they might have done for you or the community during the year.  I decided to use the elegant Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper pictured on page 29 for my backgrounds.

Here are the steps I took to make the card:

  • Cut a piece of Merry Merlot cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″ and fold in half for a portrait layout card.
  • Cut a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of the paper of your choice from the Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Papers.  I chose one with a white background so that my focal piece would stand out.
  • Stamp the large image of the deer in Sahara Sand ink on Whisper White cardstock and run through the Big Shot using the coordinating Detailed Deer Thinlits Die.   It is hard to see in the photo but I brushed clear Wink of Stella all over the deer for a bit of shimmer and let dry. Die cut a Tranquil Tide flower from one of the flower dies in the set.

  • Cut a piece of Merry Merlot cardstock at 2 5/8″ x 3 3/4″.  Using the Merry Merlot striped paper from the Joyous Noel DSP cut a piece at 2 1/2″ x 3 5/8″ and adhere to the cardstock. Adhere the deer to this piece and adhere the flower to the deer with a mini glue dot.  I added a small pearl to the center of the flower.
  • Stamp the Happiest Christmas Wishes sentiment with Tranquil Tide ink on Whisper White cardstock.  I used the banner thinlit from the Petals and More Thinlits but you can use any punch or thinlit that would fit the sentiment.
  • Cut a piece of the luscious new Tranquil Tide 1/4″ Velvet Ribbon, which is included in the Frosted Floral Suite shown on page 37.  Adhere lengthwise down the center of the card and then adhere the designer paper to the card base.  Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, attach the deer focal piece to the card and then attach the sentiment below this piece using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the inside of the card I stamped the sentiment with Tranquil Tide ink and the floral banner was stamped with Merry Merlot ink.
