Boho Beach Kit

Hello!

Today is the last day of the Kit Sale, with discounts up to 30% off. I usually purchase one or two kits a year and as soon as the Boho Beach Kit was introduced I purchased it right away. I think it is one of the most beautiful kits we have ever had. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, being a Pisces, I’m drawn to beach and ocean-themed images! In all the years I’ve been a demonstrator, I never held a kit class until this kit came out and everyone loved it! We made two cards as shown in the kit instructions and then made three additional cards showing alternative options for making the cards using elements of the kit and combining them with different stamp sets, dies and papers.

The next three cards are the alternative versions I designed.

For this card I used a piece of Thick Basic White cardstock cut at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ for the base and cut down one of the cards in the kit to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″, adhering it to the card front. I used another card front to die cut a 3″ circle. Stamp the large shell from the Season of Chic stamp set with Lost Lagoon ink and run through die cutting machine with coordinating Chic die. The smaller shells were die cut from a piece of Lost Lagoon Soft Shimmer Paper. The bow was made from a piece of Wild Wheat Jute Trim that I separated into one strand.

Cut a piece of Thick Basic White cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ for the card base. Cut a piece of Pool Party cardstock at 4″ x 4 1/2″. Cut the front of a card base at 1 1/2″ x 3 3/4″. Cut apart one of the envelopes and trim it down to 3 3/4 x 3 1/4″. Die cut edge of the envelope piece with the torn edge die from the Seaside Bay dies and adhere to the card base. Stamp the large and small bird images from the Seaside Bay stamp set and color with Pretty Peacock, Crumb Cake and Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blends. Cut with Seaside Bay dies. Stamp grass and sand images from stamp set with Pecan Pie and Wild Wheat ink. Adhere birds to card front, adhere to Pool Party cardstock, and adhere piece to white card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Stamp greeting from kit.

Use one of the card bases from the kit. Adhere umbrella, leaf and bench from kit. Stamp greeting from the Paradise Palms stamp set with Pecan Pie ink and run through die cutting machine using the hexagon die from the Something Fancy dies. This set is now retired but it is one I won’t part with because of the wonderful greetings in the set, which are perfect for these cards! Cut a length of the linen thread and wrap it around twice, adhere to card and adhere stamped greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Using a small piece of Distressed Gold Specialty Paper, run through die cutting machine using several different shells from the Chic die set.

These are close-up photos of the two cards shown in the kit instructions.

I used Wink of Stella on all of the cards and assorted embellishments for some extra summertime glitz!

Apple Harvest Fun Fold Card

Hello!

It’s been over a month since my last post. I’ve been making cards but haven’t had a chance to photograph most of them yet. I’ve been working on a renovation project in my living room and dining room so have been spending a lot of my time on cleaning out and getting rid of stuff, finding contractors and shopping for new furniture. It is exciting but stressful and time consuming at the same time! I’m finally in a place where I can start to turn my attention back on my cardmaking for now, but will there will continue to be weeks where I will not be able to post. With that said, I made this card back in June and it features the Apple Harvest stamp set and coordinating Apple Harvest dies. The dies were part of a promotion last year that included sets that didn’t originally come with several stamp sets. I was happy to see that they are still available for purchase in the clearance rack at 50% off, reduced from $35.00 to $14.00. The item number is still the same, #160255. This is what the card looks like folded up.

This is what the card looks like when opened up.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″. Score at 2 ¾”, 4 ¼”, 7 ¼”, 8 ½”. Fold into an accordion and crease very sharply with a bone folder.
  • Cut two 4″ pieces of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock. Cut two pieces of the Lemon Lime Twist paper from the Glorious Gingham Designer Series Papers, one at 3 3/4″ square and the other at 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″. Adhere the square piece of DSP to one of the Lemon Lime Twist squares.  Adhere the 2 1/4” piece of DSP on the right side of the other Lemon Lime Twist square.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 3 1/2″ x 5″. Stamp the largest apple image and the single apple image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Color the large apple image with light and dark Poppy Parade and Sweet Sorbet Stampin’ Blends for the apples and Lemon Lime Twist and Parakeet Party Stampin’ Blends for the leaves. Color the branch with Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blends. Color the single apple image with the same Blends. Run through Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the coordinating Apple Blossom dies.
  • Adhere the large stamped image to the 4″ square piece with the 3 3/4″ piece of DSP using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Adhere the single apple image to the other 4″ square with the 2 1/4″ piece of DSP as shown.
  • Adhere the 4” square with the large image to the front fold on the card panel, only adding adhesive to the left half of the square.
  • Adhere the second 4″ square to the second fold, only adding adhesive to the left side of the square and lining it up with the first square.
  • Stamp the criss-cross image in the upper right corner of the back inside panel with Pecan Pie ink, making sure to position it so that it doesn’t show when the card is folded. Stamp the birthday greeting.
  • Cut two lengths of Parakeet Party Bakers Twine from the 2022-2024 In-Color Bakers Twine Pack. Tie into a bow. Adhere to top of of the branch on the large front image with a mini glue dot. Adhere a few of the small Very Vanilla Classic Matte Dots to the front of the card.

Dainty Delight Celebrate You Card

Hello!

Today’s card is another of the cards we made at a beginner stamping class I held in June and features the lovely Dainty Delight stamp set. This set has coordinating dies, however, I chose to keep things simple and decided not to use them. I also wanted to use some new colors and chose Berry Burst, Bubble Bath and Fresh Freesia as my color combination.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base – cut a piece of Berry Burst cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of the Bright and Beautiful Designer Series Paper at 2 1/2″ x 4 14″ and adhere to card front as shown.
  • Cut a piece of Bubble Bath cardstock at 2 1/2″ x 4 3/4″. Stamp the floral image from the Dainty Delight stamp set with Memento Black Ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock cut at 2 1/4″ x 4 1/2″. Color the large flowers with these Stampin’ Blends: large flowers – Bubble Bath, smaller flowers and large flower centers – Berry Burst, flower buds – Fresh Freesia, leaves – Lemon Lime Twist. Adhere piece to Bubble Bath cardstock.
  • Stamp greeting with Memento Black Ink on scrap piece of Basic White cardstock. Punch out with the Double Oval Punch. Punch the scallop oval with a scrap piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock and adhere two pieces together.
  • Cut a length of the Bubble Bath ribbon from the Ribbon Duo Combo Pack. This is a pretty ribbon and has a nice silver edge. Tie into a knot around the floral piece and trim ends of the ribbon. Adhere to card front.
  • Adhere the greeting so that it overlaps the stamped floral piece and the DSP.
  • Cut another piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 4 1/4″. Stamp one of the smaller floral images with the black ink and color with Stampin’ Blends. Adhere to inside of card.

Give this quick and easy card a try.

Beauty of the Deep

Hello!

Today’s card features the Beauty of the Deep stamp set and dies. This is a fun and easy set to play with. I’m a Pisces and anytime Stampin’ Up! comes up with sets that have beach and ocean themes I always find myself gravitating towards them! I was eager to use the pretty new color, Azure Afternoon, as the main color and also used a few other new colors.

Here is how I made the card.

  • Card base: Cut a piece of Azure Afternoon cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″, fold and crease with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and adhere to card front.
  • Cut another piece at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and use a blending brush to create the background. Lightly blend Azure Afternoon ink at the top half and apply more heavily on the bottom half.
  • Stamp the large seaweed image in the lower left corner with Pecan Pie ink.
  • Stamp the long leaf image with Azure Afternoon ink three or four times on the right side, stamping off each time before stamping. Vary the height of the leaves.
  • Cut a 3″ square piece of Calypso Coral cardstock and run through die cutting machine using the coral die. Adhere as shown with small dots of liquid glue. You can also use an adhesive sheet as another option by backing a piece onto the cardstock before running through the die cutting machine, peeling off the paper and adhering to the piece.
  • Stamp the sea anemones several times with Moody Mauve ink around the images at the bottom of the card.
  • Stamp two of the small fish with Copper Clay ink. Stamp striped fish with Blueberry Bushel ink. Randomly stamp the sand/speckle image with Azure Afternoon ink all around the piece.
  • Stamp greeting from the Charming Sentiments stamp with Azure Afternoon ink on scrap piece of Basic White cardstock and run through die cutting machine with coordinating die from the Sentiment Silhouettes dies. Adhere with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Adhere stamped piece to card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Cut another piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to inside of card.
